A company’s ability to make strategic decisions is often limited by the difficulty of getting the correct information to business users in a timely manner. Companies often develop separate data and applications for specific product lines, regions, or functional areas. And, company changes such as reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions can further complicate the application architecture. Some of the catalysts for data integration include:
- Improving decision making through integrated data access
- Obtaining a single view of multiple data sources
- Adhering to compliance issues
- Improving customer service
- Implementing a new ERP package
- Migrating to a new business system
Data and application integration involves the integration of data from multiple systems into a unified, consistent and accurate representation. It includes data migration, data consolidation, data warehousing, data and application synchronization, and master data management.
Our approach to data integration
Comp Three specializes in best-practice data integration strategies to deliver high-quality data integration solutions. When we devise a strategy we consider:
- A baseline architecture and integration strategy
- Data mapping and data cleansing
- Load strategy
- Audit needs
- Data access and delivery
Some of our recent projects include:
- Cash Workflow System: A business intelligence tool built on top of SAP R3 and BW platforms, this web solution maximizes cash flow across multiple Raytheon business units and functional organizations, by combining data summarization, metrics, google-style searches, and problem recognition/assignment/tracking functionality.
- Third party logistics system integrated in real-time with Hewlett Packard order fulfillment application and SAP R3. Orders taken on SAP had logistics routing and carrier assignment done within the logistics system, before being picked and shipped within HP’s distribution system, with a real-time shipment notification returned to SAP. Robust error messaging and standard communications methodologies ensured a seamless integration. Comp Three’s ETL logging and verification tool allowed HP to recover weeks of shipment data misstated by 3 rd party logistics provider.
- Legacy contracts, shipping, billing and cash systems integration with SAP R3 platform. Comp Three provided a fully automated process for this integration, which involved best-fit algorithms to resolve different key structures, reducing the total “load time” of legacy data to SAP from one week to one hour.
Over the years, Comp Three has managed numerous data integration projects helping companies realize the full business potential of their enterprise data.
